Small bodywork repairs and scratches

Scratches and small dents on bodywork are common. Depending on depth and extent, a DIY repair or a professional is possible. Here are the options.

Superficial scratches (clear coat)

Scratches that do not go through the clear coat can be reduced with polish or a touch-up kit (polishing compound, one-step polish). Wash and dry well first. For micro-scratches (washing), regular polish limits the "spider web" effect.

Scratches into the paint

If the paint is damaged (white or undercoat visible), rust can appear on the metal. Clean, sand lightly if needed, apply primer then paint and clear (touch-up kits). For an invisible result, a pro (body shop) will do a local repair or full panel.

Small dents

Dent with paint intact: paintless dent repair (PDR) can restore the shape without repainting. Dent with chipped paint: repaint needed. Costs: PDR €100–300 depending on area; repaint €200–600 and more depending on panel.
